Jorge Riveros-Cayo

Jorge has been a favorite Peruvian guide and tour specialist with Crooked Trails for over twenty years. He has guided hundreds of travelers through Lima's restaurants and cultural hot spots, Peru's landscapes and ancient history sites, and organized their entire trip throughout the country. A world-renowned travel and food writer and guide, Jorge is the person to contact when you are ready to experience the real, authentic, and delicious Peru!

He and Crooked Trails co-founder Tammy Leland met in the early 2000s in Huaraz, a north-central Peru mountain town known as the gateway to Andean adventure. They forged a friendship over beers and travel stories, and the rest is history.

Soon after their meeting, Jorge was hired as a translator for Crooked Trails' groups traveling through Peru. He then started booking their hotels, guiding them to destinations, and eventually organizing logistics for travel abroad programs.

Fast forward to post-pandemic travel times, and you'll find Jorge involved with international travel writing and editorial projects, managing permits and logistics for TV and film crews, and organizing personal Peruvian travel experiences for travelers.

Crooked Trails clients love Jorge! It's like having a good friend who lives locally, who can provide a particular view of the country beyond the tourist level. He dives deep into culture, history, landscape, artists, food, and out-of-the-ordinary experiences. Personable, friendly, and accommodating - Jorge collaborates with travelers to provide an authentic Peruvian experience.
