Gear Review: Osprey Waypoint 85 Travel Pack

by Crooked Trails Co-founder Chris Mackay

Finding the perfect travel pack can sometimes be difficult, but Osprey Packs just made it easier. The Osprey Waypoint 85 Pack combines some really great features that are sure to win you over. I know for me the main thing I want is ease of getting in and out of the pack and the ability to grab it from the sides as well as having stowed shoulder straps. The other great thing to look for is the attachable day pack.

Check out the Osprey Waypoint 85 list of handy and comfort geared features:

•    Main bag offers a panel-loading opening with lockable zippers, interior organizer pockets and compression straps to cinch down contents

•    Features removable sleeping pad straps, dual ice axe loops, side lash points and stretch side pockets that let you load on extra gear or clothing

•    Top and side haul handles offer additional carrying options

•    Detachable daypack means you get 2 complete travel items! Features a framesheet for support, tuck-away shoulder straps and Spacer Mesh back panel

•    Daypack features side zip pockets, top pocket for passport and tickets, and a roomy main compartment for a jacket, snacks and travel books

•    Zip-away suspension system can be stored in its own panel for streamlined transport as luggage; interchangeable Waypoint shoulder harness provides comfortable carrying

•    ErgoPull hipbelt closure provides extra leverage in cinching, drawing tension along top and bottom not through the center, relieving hipbone pressure

•    Airscape back panel with LightWire frame promotes airflow and moisture wicking during warm weather and intense activity
